Filter Creation and Exporting Guide

VE Edit SDK supports switching the filters by filter APIs. If you create filter effects with After Effects, you can add different filters to your footage. So here is a guide for you to create and export filter template with After Effects and LookUpImage plugin provided by us.

Before you creating filter, please make sure that you have installed LookUpImage plugin. LookUpImage is a powerful color grading plugin that has recorded all the color grading information of other plugins and can restore it effectively, which can meet the needs of creating filters.

Note that when you are creating filter effects in Edit SDK, only color grading plugins can work, and other none-color grading plugins are not available.

Steps:

• First, open After Effects and import an external footage and create a new composition. Use color grading plugins of After Effects to create your filter effects.

• Second, open VE Exporter, click Edit SDK and choose filter function and then create a template composition and set a name for it. There are two default layers in the composition. Later, copy the filter effect and paste it to the bottom layer of the new composition you have created just now and then delete the top layer.

• Third, output the new file to your computer. Two points you must take in mind:

  • The resolution must be full.
  • The output format must be in PNG.

  And then render it.

• Last, open VE Exporter, click Edit SDK and choose filter. Create another template composition and set a name for it. There are two layers in the composition. Then import your output image, and replace the bottom layer with your output image. Open VE Exporter, click Edit SDK and choose filter again and load the composition. Preview it and export it.
